National Honor Society

The National Honor Societ(NHS) is the nation's premier organization established to recognize outstanding high school students. More than just an honor roll, NHS serves to recognize those students who have demonstrated excellence in the areas of scholarship, leadership, service, and character. These characteristics have been associated with membership in the organization since its beginning in 1921.

Projects

Each year our NHS chapter completes a large number of projects. In the fall, there is a dinner called Empty Bowls which raises money for local food pantries and awareness for hungry in our community. Last year, this event raised $4000 for food pantries in Dalton. NHS also adopts a charity every year. This past year, we helped Sole Hope, an organization that gives shoes to children in Uganda. This helps protect them from a potentially fatal disease caused by bugs that burrow in their feet. WRHS NHS was able to make 200 pairs of shoes, the highest amount of any school in Massachusetts.
